Alpaca
We have ten alpacas on the farm, nine hembra (female) and one macho (male), the youngest were born in the beginning of July 2025.
————————
It is difficult to predict whether an alpaca is pregnant or not. But if she is extra grumpy or spits at the male when he gets too close, it is a sign that she is . The alpaca is pregnant from anywhere between 335 to 370 days, and usually gives birth to only one cria (baby alpaca).
————————
Alpacas are great grazing animals and produce fine wool that can be spun into extra warm and light yarn. They are a camel species originally from South America, yet they thrive outside in all kinds of weather and rarely enter their stables.

Every alpaca has its own personality. Night shadow is our foodie, she will gladly eat from your hand, and is most often seen with grass in her mouth. Adele and Fluffy the faces of the herd, Adele with here teeth sticking out looking fabulous and Fluffy, always with a smile on her face. Maloo minds her own business, she is not the most social, but she is the herds best mother. She is calm, births easy and is patient with her little ones. Jordebær is the most curious one, she sometimes likes to sniff your hair. Odin is our most expensive stallion we had so far - and you can tell that he knows that.
